Behavior Technician ECHO

  • Saturday, April 20, 2019
  • 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
  • Online via Zoom
The Capacity Building for Autism Interventions (CBAI) program at the Center for Human Development is offering a free 6-week series for those direct service providers who work with children with autism. Depending on the employer, these people might have titles of Behavior Technician, Autism Behavior Technician, Registered Behavior Technician, or Direct Service Provider, however, this series is open to any one working with individuals with autism.

The Autism Behavior Technician (ABT) ECHO will meet weekly for 6 weeks for 1.5 hours each week. The session will be offered via video conferencing so technicians can attend from anywhere in the state. Each session will begin with a short lecture on a topic of importance for technicians. Topics include: Building Rapport, Functions of Behavior, Effective Reinforcement, Using Token Systems, Prompting, and Prompt Fading. After the short lecture, there will be 1-2 case presentations where technicians can share (without disclosing confidential information) a challenge they are facing with a client. The case presentation is an opportunity for other technicians to ask clarifying questions and make suggestions, while a BCBA-D provides recommendations.

The ABT ECHO may serve as part of the ongoing supervisory requirements for RBTs. Certificates of attendance will be distributed to those who attend and complete the feedback survey at the end of each session.

If you are interested in attending, please sign up on the CHD ECHO website by clicking the tab "Join an ECHO" and filling out the requested information for the ABT ECHO. Information on how to attend via zoom video conferencing will be sent via the email used to register.

Please contact Rachel White at rachel@alaskachd.org if you have any questions.
